Ok lets get to work everyone..we need serious brainstorming!!!

Wednesday, February 6th, 2008

Well, it looks like the station of the cross that we will be in charge of will be:

Jesus Bears the Cross – John 19: 6, 15-17

John 19:6

6As soon as the chief priests and their officials saw him, they shouted, “Crucify! Crucify!”
But Pilate answered, “You take him and crucify him. As for me, I find no basis for a charge against him.”

John 19:15-17
15But they shouted, “Take him away! Take him away! Crucify him!”
“Shall I crucify your king?” Pilate asked.
“We have no king but Caesar,” the chief priests answered.

16Finally Pilate handed him over to them to be crucified.

So the soldiers took charge of Jesus. 17Carrying his own cross, he went out to the place of the Skull (which in Aramaic is called Golgotha)

———————————————

OK our responsibility will be using a small space within a large beautiful old sanctuary (@ Vineyard Central, we will create an immersive experience to help anyone who comes to our space to experience a transforming moment that will help anyone contemplate or experience the scriptures above. We will just be one of the other stations of the cross that wil be doing the smae thing we will be doing, except with different scriptures.

OK, lets get to brainstorming…any suggestions? Just leave any comments you come up with in prayer here or email D.G.. Thanks!

—————–

Here is something that I read:

Essentially the Way of The Cross is a love affair between Jesus and his cross. Here he is introduced to it, and he clasps it, not unlike the way John Paul 11 clasps his Processional Cross. He does not hold it like a standard, but rather like a treasured friend, something to embrace and caress. None of us looks for a cross, yet any serious attempt at pursuing a spiritual life must inevitably embrace The Cross in one form or another.

Here is all of the stations:

The Stations (first come first serve, let me know which one your group would like to do):
First Station: Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane (Matthew 26:36-41)
Second Station: Jesus, Betrayed by Judas, is Arrested (Mark 14: 43-46)
Third Station: Jesus is Condemned by the Sanhedrin (Luke 22: 66-71)
Fourth Station: Jesus is Denied by Peter (Matthew 26: 69-75)
Fifth Station: Jesus is Judged by Pilate (Mark 15: 1-5, 15)
Sixth Station: Jesus is Scourged and Crowned with Thorns (John 19: 1-3)
Seventh Station: Jesus Bears the Cross (John 19: 6, 15-17)
Eighth Station: Jesus is Helped by Simon the Cyrenian to Carry the Cross (Mark 15: 21)
Ninth Station: Jesus Meets the Women of Jerusalem (Luke 23: 27-31)
Tenth Station: Jesus is Crucified (Luke 23: 33-34)
Eleventh Station: Jesus Promises His Kingdom to the Good Thief (Luke 23: 39-43)
Twelfth Station: Jesus Speaks to His Mother and the Disciple (John 19: 25-27)
Thirteenth Station: Jesus Dies on the Cross (Luke 23: 44-46)
Fourteenth Station: Jesus is Placed in the Tomb (Matthew 27: 57-60)

Via Crucis :: Immersion

small_station_3.jpg

Via Crucis :: Immersion 2008 intro letter (pdf)

You are invited.

Via Crucis :: Immersion is an experiential Stations of the Cross. Via Crucis is based on the 14 Stations of the Cross … remixed. Our expression of this ancient Christian practice will be multi-sensory,multi-denominational, multi-layered, and multi-media. Via Crucis :: Immersion is a pilgrimage. A journey into the heart of God. It is an immersion into the suffering of Jesus and a discovery of our own brokenness. It is Christ’s passion.

We have already given our desire to produce one of the stations of the Cross booths, so if you would like to help with this then please let D.G. know! Thanks!
