Sacrifice. It seems like this word has been selectively forgotten in the western world. The lack of sacrifice among those called, “Christians” is something that needs to be remembered and even more so, lived out. Sacrifice. May this study encourage us to live into one of the greatest attributes of Jesus! Sacrifice!

Overview:
Week 1: Ephesians 1 Blessings Abound
Week 2: Ephesians 2 One Grace, One Humanity, One Kingdom
Week 3: Ephesians 3 Join the Change, Be the Change

Week 5: Ephesians 5 Dealing With the Darkness and Division
Week 6: Ephesians 6 Power, Peace, Prayer

“blessings abound” is the perfect title for this series’ 1st discussion. Wow! What a wonderful blessing just to read this scripture. v. 5 says that he decided to adopt us through Jesus christ and he freely chose to do this. Well, that’s a relief. It’s good to know that he “freely chose” to adopt me. After some of the things I’ve done, I would think that he was forced to adopt me! But he chose me before he even created the world and he even chose for me through Christ to be holy & perfect in his presence. Wheeww! That’s a load off my mind.

Acc. to v. 14 the holy spirit is the guarantee that we belong to him. Glory be to God for this!! We are a truly a blessed people thanks to Christ’s sacrifice. If only in some small way, we could return the favor. Like can I send a thank you note? What more can I give? I will give my own life to serve him and I pray that all I do in my life will be for His glory.

Wow! “Blessings Abound” is the perfect title for this discussion on Ephesians 1. there is so much to talk about. I’m thankful for all of it, but in particular, verses 4 & 5. It’s good to know that despite all my screw ups, he freely chose to adopt me as his child. What luck! Or is it a blessing? yes, I think so…know so.

I’m also glad to know that because I have believed (v. 13-14), I have the holy spirit as a deposit on my inheritance in Christ. That’s what it takes, faith. I believe therefore the holy spirit is in me, helping me, lifting me up in my darkest hours. What a relief to know that I’m not alone.
