"Blessings Abound" is the perfect title for this discussion on Ephesians 1. there is so much to talk about. I'm thankful for all of it, but in particular, verses 4 & 5. It's good to know that despite all my screw ups, he freely chose to adopt me as his child. What luck! Or is it a blessing? yes, I think so...know so. I'm also glad to know that because I have believed (v. 13-14), I have the holy spirit as a deposit on my inheritance in Christ. That's what it takes, faith. I believe therefore the holy spirit is in me, helping me, lifting me up in my darkest hours. What a relief to know that I'm not alone. Wow! What a wonderful blessing just to read this scripture. v. 5 says that he decided to adopt us through Jesus christ and he freely chose to do this. Well, that's a relief. It's good to know that he "freely chose" to adopt me. After some of the things I've done, I would think that he was forced to adopt me! But he chose me before he even created the world and he even chose for me through Christ to be holy & perfect in his presence. Wheeww! That's a load off my mind. Acc. to v. 14 the holy spirit is the guarantee that we belong to him. Glory be to God for this!! We are a truly a blessed people thanks to Christ's sacrifice. If only in some small way, we could return the favor. Like can I send a thank you note? What more can I give?
